Happy July, Pepita sponsors!
Summer is in full swing and the solarium is a popular place, even on the hottest of days. On my recent visits with her Pepita was owning the chair in the solarium, where sunbaths abound, and she can spread out in style. She must believe in her heart that sunshine is the best medicine.
Urinary tract infections seem to have been on-trend in Suite A this month, afflicting Mary, Rose and Pepita. We’re treating our gentle girl with antibiotics, as usual. Plus she is getting the warm summer air and the sunshine to help. Otherwise, Pepita is having a healthy and happy month, made sweeter by the many visitors and volunteers she attracts with her upbeat personality. The same sponsor who visited Anka from Russia also supports Pepita, and he loved meeting her for the first time.
Last month I noted a new addition, Jimmy, to Pepita’s suite. Well, Jimmy has really settled in and become quite the love bug. Additionally Abe and Rorschach have joined the suite and both have adjusted to the interesting characters with whom they now share a home. None have tried out the solarium yet, but eventually they will notice the comings and goings and the tube that leads to the solarium will pique their curiosity.
and Rufus, were adopted separately, and Simba, an unpredictable ball-of-fire personality, was adopted by one of our superb volunteers. It brings such joy to all of us when the older or more difficult or medical issue-laden cats get adopted, as we know those adopters have a very deep love in their hearts to take on a cat with special needs. In other news, Tabby’s Place was instrumental in helping a feral cat who got his head stuck in a mayonnaise jar. Social media had exploded with the news and pictures of this poor kitty, and our Operations Director headed out to see if she could help. She was lucky enough to be able to capture the cat and take him to the specialty veterinary clinic with whom we partner. They were able to remove the jar and allow the kitty to heal up, after which we released him back into his community of cats. Clearly the love of all cats is at the center of our giant Tabby’s Place heart.
Your Pepita is a very special girl who appreciates your loving kindness each month. You make possible the medicine to keep her functioning well, whether it be for a urinary tract infection or to help her stay regular, and the dedicated care of those who express her bladder − all that and also the ability to give her a loving environment.
Enjoy your summer. As Henry David Thoreau says, “Live in each season as it passes: breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit.” We will connect again in the heat of August!
