Update for Pepita

Update for Pepita

Happy Fall, Dear Friends of Pepita,

I’m delighted to report that Suite A is ringworm free! That means snuggling is back on track and visit time with Pepita is happening.

It also means, though, that there has been some adjustment time in Pepita’s suite as cats returned from Ringworm and were reintegrated into the room. There was a report from a reliable source that “Pepita was smacking the crap out of Boom” which we know is unlike her.  But at the end of the month, Stefan was “intimidating” Pepita. I think it is a lot like when you take one of your cats to the vet and they return home and everyone is sniffing them, on alert, and prone to fighting.  Clearly, there is some adjustment going on.

Pepita has been in good health this month. She looks great and I was so happy to be able to pet her and receive her head butts on my last visit.  I think she enjoyed it, too!

Pepita returned to the Aged to Purrfection rotation, but the volunteers have reported that she hasn’t wanted to get out of the stroller on her most recent visits. We aren’t sure what is going on. We’re hoping she gets back to being her friendly self so that the seniors can truly enjoy her wonderful personality.

Our annual Linda Fund Matching Challenge is underway! This is our annual campaign to raise money for specialized medical and emergency care for the Tabby’s Place cats. These are expenses that cover treatment beyond the walls of our Medical and Surgical suite. You can find out more at the Tabby’s Place website.

Our Quinn’s Corner expansion of the sanctuary is coming along in the last stages of construction. Lots of the things you don’t see—such as the wiring of various systems—are taking place as construction starts its final journey to wrap up and prepare the building for operational use.  We’re anxious to get in there and to start using the new facility, but also recognize the various inspections that still need to take place before we can occupy the new space.

I was introduced to a new word this month: Hydref (HUH-drev). It’s Welsh and means October or Autumn. And I was provided with this Welsh saying as an example of its use in a sentence: “Hydref has more gold in its pockets than any other season.”  This was such a beautiful saying that I had to share it with you.

Pepita and I are forever grateful for your love and support that allows Pepita to live a happy and healthy life, surrounded by incredible care and love.  Take time to enjoy Hydref and all the gold in its pockets! I’ll be back next month with more news about your sweet girl.
