Update for Pepita

Update for Pepita

Are you here to love me?

Happy Heat Wave Month, Pepita Fans!

In this last month of summer, Pepita is sending a little cat therapy your way…

First, the fabulous news!  Pepita’s skin looks great! It is again thick and soft and luscious, and so wonderful to touch.

Enjoying the day!

To a different medical issue this month:  Pepita has had very hard stools that cause discomfort when expressed. She started on a stool softener and we are monitoring this closely. So much for the days when Pepita would run to the litter box when she knew it was time to get expressed. As you can see from the picture, she continues to be quite stubborn, hiding in the tube between the suite and the solarium when she knows it is time to express her.

Another way to use the paper bag!

There’s a new resident in Suite A and her name is Roxy.   Roxy is a beautiful long-haired tortie with the sweetest nature. I had the chance to visit with her and she is all about the love!  Angela provides the best description of her in a recent blog “Don’t Let Go Of the Potato.”

We’re not sure how long Roxy will be a resident in Suite A, as she is undergoing tests and a very specialized diet, and may be moved into the medical center as a resident cat  (along with Luna), as it would be easier to control her diet with only one other cat sharing that space.

Hiding out in the tube

Otherwise, there is not much new in Pepita’s life, as you can see from the pictures.  She continues to lounge in the solarium’s summer heat and periodically be taken for stroller rides as part of the Curbside Volunteering program.  Playtime and treat time are most welcome anytime, and long naps are a must.

So while Pepita’s life is relatively undisturbed by what is happening in the world, we know that you are likely in a different spot emotionally, with the roller coaster we have been riding these last months.  So I wanted to add in some things that might lift your spirits.

If you have never been to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, one of the most beautiful attractions (in addition to amazing flower displays and beautiful, peaceful grounds) is the fountain light show.  They recently included a blog that gives a sneak peek of one of those shows called “Pure Imagination: A Musical Score for a Time of Hope.” It is truly uplifting so take a few moments to enjoy this preview of their light show.  The entire story of the creative way the Performing Arts group at Longwood Gardens continued their work during the pandemic is included in this blog.

Too bad if another kitty wants to travel between solarium and suite

I must admit that when I make my tea each morning, I don’t really pay attention to the little packets of Truvia sweetener that I use. But one morning, I noticed that there is a sweet (no pun intended) little message on each packet—messages that we all need right now.  Here are a few that I wanted to share with you:

Loving the stroller rides!
  • To Do: Smile. Connect. Encourage. Repeat.
  • Escape to a Sweet Memory!
  • Embrace What Makes You Smile!

Everyone at Tabby’s Place (and especially Pepita) cherish you and your continuing love for the cats and the work we do. It is a tremendous comfort having people like you in our lives. On behalf of all the cats in hopeless situations, thank you for continuing to care even in such difficult days.

Let’s talk again in September. Meanwhile, find joy where you can each and every day.

Sheila
