Update for Olive

Update for Olive

Very cheery and merry March greetings to you, my marvelous sponsor!

I could not believe my eyes when Elizabeth walked in to help me put this update together.  Where did the last month go?  And I have so much to fill you in on!!!

Snuggled in for a second sleepover

After a cold season with lots of white stuff falling from the sky, I think spring just might be in the air here in sweet little Ringoes, New Jersey.  I am happy to tell you I am feeling the warm air when the lobby doors open!

I am so excited for nice weather, as this means I will get some time outside to watch the birdies and butterflies.  I am not one who enjoys stroller rides, but I do love a little protected setup in the grass where I can enjoy some outdoor enrichment, and maybe sunbathe in the new red polka dot bikini I ordered last night.

Speaking of our weather, you will not believe what I have to tell you!!!  Remember last month when I was telling you all about our wonderful staff sleepover?  I asked the sky to bless us with another snowstorm so we could have another sleepover…

Well, you are not going to believe this, but the sky heard me and granted my wish!  I can hardly believe it myself!! We were hit with another storm, The Blissard of 2026, so our wonderful staff members pulled their oversized kitty beds back out, and we had another snowed-in slumber party.

Oh my goodness, it was even more fun than the first time!!  We were prepared with our snack requests, as well as our movie and story lists!  The staff was a little bleary-eyed and yawned a lot the next day, but after a few catnaps, they were right as rain!

We really are so grateful to our dedicated staff for staying with us and making sure we are so well cared for, along with the staff and volunteers who braved the aftermath of the storm to get to us.  They really are the best!

Now here is the disappointing part… our Executive Director got wind of my secret wish for another storm and sleepover.  I was given a stern talking to and told to refrain from making crazy sky wishes.  I don’t think he really minded about the sleepover—I think he is just really scared about what I will wish for next, and the proven reality that it would happen.

Well, I just told him secret wishes are secret.  You can be sure I shall never share mine with anyone around here going forward!

So, did you follow the Olympics this year?   Of course, I mean the Tabby’s Place Olympics!   There were so many great divisions, including wrestling (Trifecta), Strolling (Gator), Big Stretches (Hannah), Cat Tree climbing (Peabody), Gymnastics (Berry), Zoomies, (Deku), Wand Toy (Uni), and Scritches (Steven).

Yeah, yeah, yeah — great job to all of you.

Lobby Speed Skating Gold Medalist!

But here is what I want to know:  why did no one share the news of my gold medal???   I practiced long and hard and blew the competition away by over a mile take the medal in Lobby Speed Skating.  Yet no one knows about my accomplishment.  Why is this?  Talk about an injustice!

I should be recognized, with top billing of course, for my accomplishment that I worked so hard to earn!  I think there needs to be an immediate correction to the gold medal list, and it best list me at the top of the rankings!!!   Until then, I will remain rightfully annoyed and unhappy!

Oh, and have you heard about the March Madness Salute to Seniors at Tabby’s Place?   The first round of special brackets was posted on Facebook, featuring 16 of the finest, most gorgeous senior kitties.  Weekly voting will narrow the finalists down to one, who will be crowned the coveted “Meow Madness Champion.”

Now we all know that, as the Queen around Tabby’s Place, I should be a top contender again this year.  And as last year’s runner-up, I thought I would be a shoo-in for this year’s crown.  You are not going to believe this, but sadly, I was told last Wednesday that I was eliminated in round one.  How in the world did that happen?   I am pretty sure there was either some miscounting or vote tampering, because I know for a fact I was in the lead, and by a huge margin!

Meow Madness Salute to Seniors

I am thinking I should start now to:  1. Bribe the Tabby’s Place social media people to ensure I am first on the bracket list next year; and  2. Start bribing all the voters now for next year’s votes and finals.  Until then, I will have to sit here and stare at my beautiful tiara, because I have been told I am not going to be wearing it anytime soon.  Oh, the injustices I have to endure!!!

In better news, I have a new BFF and also a new potential boyfriend who has joined the Lobby!  Luna, an all-black paraplegic (like me!), has joined us from Animals Lebanon.  She is pretty nice, and we are spending time hanging out and sharing stories.

Deku is an unsteady, handsome tiger of a guy, and boy, do I have my eyes on him!  As long as they listen to my iron paw, do not cause chaos or annoy me (like Hips was known for doing!), I can see myself enjoying having them around!

Kisses for Meow Madness votes!!

Before I speed down the Lobby hallway, I just want to wish you happy days filled with sunshine ahead.   I am always so appreciative of you, and grateful to you, my faithful friend and sponsor.  Your support and love make my days brighter here at Tabby’s Place. Thank you for all you do for me!

So until next month…

Lots of love,
Queen Olive
