Greetings, Olive Fans!
It’s time for another update on our self-styled Queen of the Lobby.
Medical news first: there is none! Hooray! Olive has had a month of stable health, and we can’t ask for better than that.
Olive doesn’t like Monet. I know that sounds as though our feisty girl has become an art critic, but the Monet in question is a young, very active “teenage” cat who is new in our lobby.
Olive sees Monet in a near-constant state of movement: pouncing on toys, tail chasing, or just galloping up and down the lobby hallway. I don’t know if Olive expects Monet to pounce on her or if Monet just comes too close in the course of play for Olive’s liking, but our girl obviously doesn’t want any part of this active young’un. Olive won’t attack Monet, but she’ll hiss/growl or put out a front paw if Monet comes too close.
There’s a small, round, cardboard scratcher in the lobby that another volunteer laughingly refers to as “Olive’s stage”. It’s quite low to the ground, so Olive can scoot herself up onto it with no trouble. Once settled on the scratcher, our black-and-white girl seems content to survey her domain; sometimes she’ll even nap there. There’s no reason she shouldn’t do this, but it’s a little odd, as the round was clearly made for felines to scratch and not to sleep on.
We love our little lobby greeter, and we truly appreciate the fact that you’ve chosen to help us help her. Thank you!
