November greetings to you, and to all my friends!
I’m happy to be able to tell you once more this month about my life at Tabby’s Place. They did give me the same so-called “correspondent” (that is to say, “typist”) as last month, saying something about “don’t break up a winning combination.” Well OK, fine, whatever. I will say that this kid learned fast, since there was no unwanted public display of affection this past visit. Li’l Salty, he called me. I’ll accept that, as long as you smile when you say it. But enough about him; let’s get down to business.
It’s good to be Olive! Credit for that goes in large part to my medical staff. They’ve had to treat some cats this past month for one thing or another, but not me! I feel fit and my spirit is strong. They watch out for bugs the way I watch the front door, always vigilant. (Like in this picture!)
While I was watching, a whole bunch of birds flew into the tree just outside the door. More and more birds kept coming and landing, and I could see them and hear them squawking. They’re lucky I couldn’t get outside. They only stayed a few seconds, then they took off again and I watched them until they were all out of sight.
For a moment, I thought one *was” inside, since it was dark brown and had been flying around, but when it stopped moving I tried putting the bite on it, and pfui! It came from the tree, but it didn’t taste like anything a carniverous cat like me would eat. If it had been good to eat, though, it would have been all mine, since nearly all the other lobby cats were napping, except for Jonathan and Rose. My old buddy Walter was one of the tuxedo cats snoozing in one of the lobby chairs, and after I was satisfied that everything was OK, I made my way over to one of the enclosures on the floor and climbed inside. Even the most vigilant cat deserves a quick nap from time to time!
Before I let you go, I want to thank all of you who made the Linda Fund-raising such a success this year. All of the Tabby’s Place cats are special, and for the most extra-special cats, like me, the Linda Fund gives us a chance to show the world what we’re made of. Thanks again!
Coming up very soon is Thanksgiving with the Cats. On November 17, bring a little something for us, the titular cats. It’ll be a lot of fun, especially because I and all the cats can have a special meal, while you enjoy tours and refreshments and bid in a special mini silent auction. But don’t forget to bring a gift for the cats!
Hoping to see you there, this is your friend, Li’l Salty Olive.
