Update for Olive

Greetings, Olive Lovers!

As the old carol goes, “Fast away the old year passes…,” and I can hardly believe this is the last update on Olive for 2020.

Overall, Olive’s health has been good over the last few weeks, with the exception of her constipation, which has been a bit more prevalent lately. On one occasion, there were rumors that she’d receive an enema if another day went by without her having a bowel movement. Olive must have paid attention to those tales because she resolved the issue without human intervention.

Our little lobby greeter has a new hobby these days.

Oh, she’s still the first one to investigate anything new in the lobby, whether it’s a bug or a person or just a dead leaf (she seems particularly partial to the latter and has been seen acting in a positively silly manner while going after a leaf).

But our staff has a new eating arrangement because of COVID-19. Staff members either eat alone in a room with a closed door, which isn’t much fun, or they eat outside and at least 6 feet apart. It’s December in New Jersey, but the much more sociable outdoor arrangement, located on our front patio, is made tolerable by new heaters. Olive is clearly fascinated by this and will spend long periods of time at the front door, watching the humans go back and forth and especially watching them eat.

I don’t think there’s anyone who will not be happy to see 2020 draw to a close. I hope the new year will bring a great improvement for us all. May your holidays be happy, and, once more, please accept my gratitude for helping us provide for our feisty girl.
