Update for Lester

Enjoying the solarium

Dear Sponsors,

Lester has continued to enjoy good health this month. His weight is stable and he seems to be doing well with his daily routine. This is a blessing since there has been much activity in the FIV+ suite this month. Great activity can sometimes lead to great chaos, but on the whole, the mood in FIV has been calmer this month than it was last.

One big factor may be the wonderful adoption of Arlo. Arlo was a BIG presence in the suite. His presence did not always mesh with the other big personalities in that room, so chaos sometimes ensued. Lester is not a particular fan of big personalities, so he quickly learned to go about his daily business, most of which takes place in the solarium.

Every suite at Tabby’s Place has its solarium dwellers—those cats that spend all the time they can in the fresh air. True solarium dwellers don’t mind the heat, the cold, the rain. Lester is a solarium dweller. He is joined by Shea, Oscar, Rufus, and, more recently, JJ. Cisco comes and goes.

Lester is the only solarium dweller that is crated each night for dietary restrictions and sensitivities. This means that each morning when he is released, he gets in a good stretch, scratches on something, and then heads to the tunnel to join his fresh air friends. When evening comes, I can reliably find Lester lounging in the solarium. He knows his routine, and when dinner arrives, Lester will crate himself. On especially lazy days, he may need a little nudge of encouragement.

My room with a view.

As you learned last month, there has been a series of new arrivals to the FIV+ suite. Toby has settled in once again. He does get a little overstimulated, so he remains crated during the morning cleaning routine. This is the case for both Jake and Rufus as well. Both Liam and Ralph have integrated well and both are very underfoot and demanding of attention first thing in the morning. The other big suite news this month is that Inigo Montoya was promoted to the Executive Director’s office. He is shy and timid but is beginning to blossom under Stafford’s guidance. Lester is likely relieved that there is one less physical obstacle (Inigo’s body) blocking his path to and from the solarium.
