Dear friends,
The newbies keep coming. Ralph, Liam and Inigo Montoya were sprung from quarantine and have settled into the FIV+ Suite. And then there’s Toby. Toby and I have history. You see, several years ago, Toby and I made the journey from Brooklyn to Tabby’s Place together. Toby was adopted by a loving man who doted on him for six years. Sadly, this man passed away and Tabby’s Place welcomed Toby back (once a Tabby’s Place cat, always a Tabby’s Place cat). I rarely show deep affection to other cats, so we have acknowledged each other with a good-old Brooklyn nod and “hey, what’s up?”
When my correspondent came to visit me recently, she had to peel no less than seven cats (Tennison, Ralph, Liam, Shea, Jake, JJ and Oscar) off her legs. I told you these guys are shameless. They will throw themselves at humans for love and affection. Luckily they share their love and affection with each other, too, so they are never without it.
I watched my correspondent navigate the mess of cats at her feet and giggled. I flashed my beautiful eyes at her and held up my head for her to pet me. Then every time she took her camera out to take a picture of me, I closed my eyes. This is a game I like to play: “try to catch me with my eyes open!” (Between us, she really needs to work on her speed.)
I hope you’re enjoying lazy summer days surrounded by love. Sending you many hugs and kisses.
Your pal,
Lester
