Dear Jude Friend,
Our little Jude had a pretty rough month. She’s fine now, but I was quite concerned for a few days.
She went into cluster seizures, which she has done before. But she usually comes out of it in 10-15 minutes. Cluster seizures are not grand mal seizures. They are much milder, and Jude is aware of what’s going on.
This time the cluster seizures didn’t stop, so I gave her rescue medication. It didn’t help, and the seizures continued. After around an hour of this, I gave her the rescue medication again. The seizures lasted about another half hour (one and a half hours total) before they finally stopped. I was glad they had stopped, but Jude was very quiet and lethargic. Not surprising after seizing for so long.
I let her rest and hoped she would feel better when she woke up. She didn’t. The next day she was still very lethargic, and not eating much at all. I hoped she was still tired, and would feel better the following day. I spoke to our vet team, of course, but there was nothing we could do but wait.
For the following 3 days, Jude was still lethargic, and barely eating. She was struggling to scoot around, and she wasn’t growling at me. I was really worried about our little girl.
But our Jude is a fighter, and she suddenly started acting more like herself. She started eating very well again and was able to scoot around again. And she was also back to her cranky self. I was SO happy and relieved.
Now it’s 2 weeks since the episode, and she is doing great. I’m so thankful she’s OK.
Other than this large episode, Jude only had 5 seizures this month, which is good for her.
Our Jude is once again her cranky, food-loving, sunbathing self. Thank you so much for making it possible for Jude to live her best life. You are so appreciated for everything you do.
Your correspondent,
Karina
