Update for Jude

Dear Jude Friend,

Jude had a pretty good month and seemed to enjoy herself most of the time. She did all of the usual stuff —eating, a little playing, sleeping, and hanging with the kitty friends, Luvs, and her new brother, Warren.

I had fostered Warren for over 4 months, ever since he was 1 day old. I bottle-fed him, got up through the night with him, and did everything his momma would have done. I have done this for hundreds of babies, but sometimes one comes along that you just can’t let go. Foster kittens usually go back to Tabby’s Place and get ready for adoption after 8 weeks, but Warren had ringworm, so he needed to stay with me until the ringworm was gone. After over 4 months of fostering him, I was very attached and couldn’t let him go back.

I never adopt healthy kittens, but there is always an exception to the rule, and he was it. Jude had not met Warren, because he had ringworm, and I didn’t want Jude to get it. Now he’s in the clear he is out and about with her, and Jude really likes him. He is very gentle with her, and seems to understand he can’t wrestle with her (he wrestles with Luvs constantly). The most he has done to Jude is play with her tail, and he stopped as soon as she growled at him.

When Jude goes into her playpen at night, I will often find Warren curled up sleeping in her playpen with her. Jude approves of him taking her nap with her—I think she likes the company. All night Warren goes in and out of her playpen. If he wants to play he goes to find Luvs, and they run around together, but if he wants to nap, he hops in with Jude.

Jude had 8 seizures this month, which is pretty average for her. The only good thing about poor Jude having a seizure is she gets an extra can of wet food as soon as she wakes up from the seizure. I am not sure why, but when a cat wakes up from a seizure they are extremely hungry, and Jude is no exception. As soon as she is herself again, the first thing she does is look for food. Jude is always a good eater, but after a seizure she is ravenous.

Jude only had a couple of baths this month, of which she approved. She hasn’t got as messy as she usually does, so she hasn’t needed as many baths.

Jude actually lets me pet her every night now! At first, it started with letting me pet her head and around her ears, but now she will let me pet all down her back! It only took her just over 5 years to let me pet her without growling at me. Pets are still only allowed late at night (don’t ask me why), as she still isn’t a fan of being pet during the day. I’ll take whatever she will allow.

That is all the Jude news for now. As always, thank you so much for your support of our little Jude, because we just couldn’t give her this level of care without you.
