Update for Jude

Dear Jude friends,

Well, we survived the move to our new house. Actually I think Jude did better than any of us!

I had it all planned out to minimize her stress…. I went to the new house earlier in the day and set up Jude’s new room (yes she has her own room). I took her playpen (in which she feels safe), her toys, her beds, and her food. I had her room all ready for her before she even left the old house. Then I went to collect Jude.

I was very worried she wouldn’t handle all this very well, but I forced myself to stay calm for her. I put her in a carrier and drove to the new house as fast as possible. She just sat in her carrier, tilting her head back and forth, and looking interested, but not overly concerned.

As soon as we arrived at our new home I rushed her inside, and put her in her playpen, gave her food, and let her eat and rest. I left her in the playpen for the rest of that day, and through the first night. I checked on her a lot, but she seemed completely unfazed.

The next day I let her out into her room. She immediately scooted around and explored her new area. She was calm and didn’t seems stressed by the change. I breathed a sigh of relief.  It turns out Jude absolutely loves her new room! She really seems to love having her own space, her own toys, and her own food, without any of the other cats bothering her. I have a gate up at the door to her room, so she can hear us, and we can hear her. I am very happy she is so settled and content. What a relief!

Jude’s Room

Jude had a couple of seizures since we arrived at the new house, but I don’t think it had anything to do with the move, because they didn’t happen within the first week of being at the new house. Jude just has seizures sometimes, and that’s always going to happen.

I am including pictures of Jude in her new room. Don’t worry, we are going to get rid of the bright pink walls in her room soon (the pictures don’t show just how bright pink it is). I think if Jude could see (she’s pretty blind) she would not be happy with all the pink. We are going to paint her room a softer color. It’s strange, because all the other rooms in the house are a neutral color, and you go into Jude’s room and BAM!!…… Pink! Jude does not strike me as a pink kinda cat, although her playpen is pink and she loves that.

I don’t think Jude misses the other cats being around at all. I think she loves having her own space. Castiel has followed me into her room on occasion, but he doesn’t bother her and leaves when I do.

We have the spare bed in Jude’s room, so now every day I have to go under the bed to retrieve all Jude’s toys. I don’t mind though, as long as she is having fun.

Jude has been eating great since the move. Nothing seems to slow down her appetite. She does make a huge mess with her food though, so her dry food and wet food go on a mat in her room. She eats some dry food, but that is more difficult for her to eat, but she has no problem eating a lot of wet food.

Needless to say, I am thrilled Jude handled the move so well and is really enjoying her room. It is a big relief that she is settled and doing well. I love to see her happy and content.

That’s all the Jude news for now. As always, thank you all so much for your continued support of Jude. We couldn’t do this without you.
