Update for Jude

Dear Jude friends,

Jude has been quite strange lately and by strange, I mean friendly. I don’t mean all the time, as that would just be crazy, but every day now she will allow some pets, and obviously enjoys it. It makes my heart smile to see her enjoying attention of any kind. It has been a long, slow road, with many speed bumps, but Jude is finally realizing pets are not so bad.

Of course, the grumpy Jude still comes out when she is not in the mood for attention. She is particularly angry when I express her bladder. Even though she can pee on her own, she doesn’t do it very often, and she doesn’t completely empty her bladder. To leave that urine in there could cause a bad urinary tract infection, so I make sure I manually express her bladder each day. Jude yells at me the whole time I am doing this.

Jude had three grand mal seizures this month. When she has these seizures her bladder does let go. As soon as she starts to have a seizure I quickly wrap her in a towel. This keeps her safe and secure during the seizure and soaks up the urine when her bladder lets go. Of course, there are times I am not with her when a seizure occurs. I can always tell she’s had a seizure though. This happened tonight. As I entered the bedroom Jude was looking a little confused and was wet with urine on her legs. I cleaned her up as much as she would allow, then I put her in her playpen so she could finish cleaning herself. She much prefers to do it herself.

Other than the three seizures Jude has had a good month. It has been nice weather, so the screen porch has been open a lot. She loves the fresh air and scoots herself over to the porch so she can enjoy it.

Jude has enjoyed hanging out with her friend, Castiel, snoozing on the dog bed together. She likes him a lot, but when the food arrives she will push him out of the way to get to it first. Castiel always lets her have her way, and he is happy to let her eat first.

That’s all the Jude news for now. As always, thank you so much for all your support.  It means so much to us all, cats and humans alike.
