Update for Jude

Dear Jude friends,

Jude has had a pretty good month and has only had one seizure. I got to her just as the seizure was ending, so I held her until she came all the way back to normal. As soon as she starts growling at me I know my little girl is back, and all is ok with the world again. Most people don’t like it when their cat growls at them, but I don’t mind one bit, because her growl means she is herself, and she is ok.

She recovered quickly from the seizure and has had no incidents since then. Her bladder had let go, so I had to clean her up, but I got most of the clean-up done before she got really cranky.

Jude had a wonderful holiday, and got lots of great gifts, including a gift from one of her sponsors (she sends a big thank you). I put all her gifts in a stocking, and we opened it together. Jude got lots of new toys, and a whole bunch of treats, so she was a happy girl.

Jude and Castiel (one of my paraplegics) are having a strange friendship. One day they love each other and want to hang out together, play and snuggle. Then another day they are cranky with each other and don’t want to be near each other. It’s very strange. When they are being a little cranky with each other I usually put Castiel into the living room, so he can hang out with the cats out there, and Jude can have some peace. I think Castiel is sometimes glad to get away for a while, especially when Jude is having a cranky day. When they do love each other they are BFF’s and have a great time together, but there’s no telling what each day, or even each hour, will bring for this pair.

Every morning, when Jude first gets out of her playpen and goes into the bedroom, she zips around the whole room like a crazy kitten. It’s funny, and a little alarming, to watch because with Jude being blind she bumps into things while going so fast.

She doesn’t bump into anything hard, but I’m always concerned she will. But she seems to know what she’s doing, and even when she bumps into things it doesn’t slow her down at all. She is having a great time, getting out all her energy from overnight, and no one is going to stop her. After a while, she calms down and goes to take a nap on the dog bed. For the rest of the day, she will explore and play, but only does zooming around in the early morning.

Jude and Castiel

We had a couple of warm days recently, so we opened up the screen porch. Jude loved that! She loves to be able to scoot herself outside and smell the fresh air, and lay in a sunbeam. Of course, the warm days didn’t last long, but at least she got some time out on the screen porch. It will probably have to last her till Spring now, because I’m sure that’s the last nice days for a while.

As you can see from one of the pictures, Jude usually lays in an S shape. She does this most of the time, but when she falls fast asleep she curls up in a tiny ball, and she looks so peaceful. It’s funny to see this tiny cat right in the middle of the huge dog bed.

Well, that’s all the Jude news for now. As always, thank you all for your continued support of this special little girl, we couldn’t do this without you.
