Update for Hips

Olive & I are BFF nap buddies!

Hips’ Happenings, #4

Happy April, Dear Sponsors, and Tabby’s Place Fans.  Welcome to another Hips’ Happenings!

Well, spring is here and with it new life.  The flowers are coming up, the trees are sprouting leaves, and the warm weather is starting as well.  I, too, am starting something new.  I want you to sit down and grab onto something sturdy as I have an announcement.  It is not easy for me to tell you this since I am such a strong boy in many ways.  But I really think this is all for the best.

Volunteer Duty: Blankets for the Lobby Kitties

Remember me telling you last month that I was going to give over the lobby reins and reigns to Grecca for a month to test it out?  Well, I have decided to give them to her permanently.  Why? And this is the very hard part for me.  You see, I am a lover and not a fighter.  But Grecca does not like me.  She hits me and hisses at me and claws at me if I get too close to her.  So, my “survival” tactic is to stay away and let her be the alpha kitty from now on.  I am really scared of her.

I have two places that are my safe places when I get out of my crate in the morning.  One is the small cat tree next to the desk (where I can more easily answer the phone).  The other is the very tall cat tree at the back of the lobby.  I can climb to the top and kind of hide out so Grecca can’t find me…ha-ha…and neither can some of the staff and volunteers.  If they don’t look up, they won’t see me.  Please don’t be upset with me for being scared of Grecca, but I would rather just soak up all the love from everyone and let her rule the roost.

More Volunteering for Me: Wow! This is hard work…

So you know that Olive is my BFF.  I have another BFF and it is Nina.  She is a little tortie girl from Lebanon.  No, not Lebanon, New Jersey, but rather Lebanon, the country.  She has a neurological problem and makes a lot of circles.  But I love her and hang out with her sometimes when Olive is busy or asleep.  But I love to curl up next to Olive and take a nap with her.

And I have another BFF and she is one of my “hooman” friends:  Allison.  She comes to the sanctuary a lot.  I love her because she spoils me.  I get to jump on her shoulder.  I get to lie in her arms and get cuddles and lots of kisses.  I get to spend time with her while she visits with the other kitties in the lobby.

My friend Allison spoils me!

And I am continuing my volunteer duties, too.  Every day, someone changes our blankies and gives us new food, water, and litter.  Sometimes it takes a while for the volunteers to change our beds and blankies.  So I have opted to help them out.  As you can see, I have a big task ahead of me with all of the gear to put out for the lobby cats.

My health this month has been very good except for one bout of loose stool.  You know me—I found some forbidden food and ate it.  But I am back to normal again. Oh, and not to worry about me and Grecca:  we have a treaty.  I get to chill and spend time with my favorite hoomans and kitties and play all day while she is the queen of the lobby and can eat all the treaties!

I love climbing on backs!

So, happy holidays to all who celebrate this month.  Come to visit me and all the kitties here at Tabby’s Place.  And, stay tuned for next month’s Happenings when I tell you about my new lobby mate, Mortimer, who shall be known by me as Morty.

Love to you!
