Hips’ Happenings #3

Happy March, Dear Sponsors, and Tabby’s Place Fans!

Welcome to my latest “Happenings.”

I bequeathed a lobby leadership role to Grecca! She looks like a leader, doesn’t she?

It seems that some of the staff and volunteers, and even some of the kitties, are wearing green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.  I am not wearing green because I celebrate all day, every day, 365 days a year, since I am blessed to be here at the sanctuary where I am safe, warm, and full of good food.  So, because I am so lucky, I have decided to give Grecca the leadership of the lobby and I am going to be a volunteer to give back to Tabby’s Place.  This might not last long, but I am willing to give it a try for a month or so.

My friend, Mary Anne, came to visit me and at first, I was sleeping in the small cat tree.  But when she pulled her chair up and sat next to me, I jumped in her lap and got all kinds of great pets and hugs and kisses…  I nestled in and purred up a storm while she held me and gave me lots of love.  So I shared my ideas with her.

Checking out donations from the Girl Scouts

A while back, the Girl Scouts came in with some donations for the kitties.  So I volunteered to check out the goodies and even tried to break into one of the bags.  But the staff was on it and I only got to smell the food.  It certainly has my seal of approval even if I can’t eat it.  That was my first volunteer event.

Then, I had to check out the books in the bookcase.  You see, we have children who volunteer to come and read to the kitties in a program called Paws to Read (isn’t that cute?).  I felt it my duty to voluntarily check out the books to be sure they were okay for our kitties.  And they all passed inspection.  I hope some of the children will read to me, as I love to look at pictures and hear their sweet voices.

Checking out the books for Paws to Read!

And then, I felt it my duty to voluntarily try to answer the phone at the sanctuary.  After all, we don’t want to miss important calls from people like you! It makes this ringing sound that arouses my curiosity.  So I have been spending time at the desk trying to figure out how to pick up something called a receiver and meow into the phone so people can hear me.  I am still working on this. So if you call Tabby’s and there is some sort of delay, don’t worry…  it’s just me trying to be the lobby operator and answer the phone.

Healthwise, I was a semi-bad boy this month.  I got into some forbidden food and had a bout with the BIG D!  However, the staff was their usual wonderful selves and on it immediately, and my intestines kind of resolved themselves in a few days without meds.  The rest of me is just fine.

I think I need opposable thumbs/toes for this!

Enjoy the last few days of winter and plan to visit me here at Tabby’s Place if you can.  If you are too far away, you can always follow my antics with my “Happenings.”  I am so grateful to each of you for donating to my care so I can live my best life right now.  I still am always hoping for adoption into a forever home, like so many of the other Tabby’s Place kitties.

Until next month, be safe, well, and happy… I certainly am.

Love to all, Hips
