Update for Colleen

Dear Supporters of Colleen,

Happy Holidays!

Luckily, the holidays find our dear girl in good spirits. There is rarely a month that goes by that Colleen doesn’t suffer from some minor condition, and this month was no different. Colleen’s mouth was inflamed, and her standard antibiotic did help…but not without causing an unfortunate case of diarrhea.

The good folks at Tabby’s Place treated Colleen’s diarrhea with a probiotic sprinkled into her food. They also switched her to a newer antibiotic that’s shown promise in treating inflammation of the mouth without causing diarrhea. To date, the new antibiotic is working nicely. Yeah!!

As for Colleen’s social life, when I’ve had the chance to visit with her, I usually find her in the Community Room, lounging around, seemingly oblivious to the noise and commotion around her. We’re great friends now. All she has to do is sniff my hand, then she gladly follows me to the lounge chair near the window, where we sit in the sun, or she’ll sit on my lap so we can spend some together time.

Colleen is very popular with all the staff and the volunteers. One of Colleen’s favorite treats is turkey baby food, and so Thanksgiving came a little early when one of my fellow volunteers, Jen, brought in some for Colleen.

In further good news, many of the kittens, who loved to run around and “play” with Colleen, have been adopted. Colleen can now occupy her space in quiet.

As always, Colleen and I thank you for your continued generosity.
We wish you a joyous holiday and a healthy and happy new year.
