Update for Casper

Hi sweet sponsors,

I hope that you are well.

It’s been a challenging month for me, and the challenge began with awful diarrhea. Happily it is now under control with medication.

Next, I lost a bit of weight, so my friends at Tabby’s Place checked my blood glucose level. It turns out that I have developed diabetes! I am now receiving insulin, which will hopefully make me more comfortable. I also take steroids, which help me to stand and walk. But the steroids also are probably responsible for the onset of my diabetes. A specialist suggested tapering my steroids ever-so-slowly and watching me very, very carefully to see how I respond.

If my mobility becomes worse, we will know that I have lymphoma that responds to steroids, and I will need to stay with this medication. But if I do well with a lower dose of steroids, it may indicate that my lymphoma is in remission…or that I never had it in the first place. Only time will tell, and I am very blessed to have the support and love of you sweet sponsors (and the hard working folks at Tabby’s Place). I will keep you informed of my progress.

I want to share a photo of my meeting with little Sven. He asked me about Tabby’s Place, and I was explaining how lucky we are to have been rescued. Good food, soft places to sleep and some very interesting company.

Late last month I met Mario. He was in quarantine for ringworm when I arrived and is now back in the lobby. He is a very sweet boy, and sometimes he sits behind me on the desk or chair when I am under the desk. He is mellow like me, and perhaps someday we will have a nice chat. I really enjoy the space under the desk, because so many people pass the spot and sit down and pet me. I feel very safe and loved.

May we all be safe and loved! Many thanks again for sponsoring me.

All my love,

Casper
