Hello, Team Berry!!
Summer is almost here, and I hope you have big plans for a relaxing and fun season!
My name is Janet, and I am privileged and proud to be a guest correspondent for Berry, THE CUTEST BERRY THIS SIDE OF THE GALAXY.
I’m excited to bring you up to date with Berry’s many adventures. He’s been a busy boy, traveling around from state to state, home to home, all with the goal of getting back to Tabby’s Place.
As you know, Berry had corrective spinal surgery last month. Thanks to you, he had exceptional care as he recovered, staying with Drew. Drew is Tabby’s Place’s angel vet tech, who is the best at caring for kitties who need recovery time. (Years ago, the angels above had a meeting and unanimously chose Drew to come to Tabby’s Place!)
During his recovery, Berry had a few challenges in terms of urinary blockages, which were also treated by the Tabby’s Place vet team. After Berry was released from Drew’s care, he was cleared to return to our outreach programs.
But there were further bumps in the road, as Berry developed a third urinary blockage. Yes, a third. You see, Berry’s little body wasn’t quite assembled like other kitties. He had a little hitch in his get-along.
So, it was back to the specialty hospital (could he have a crush on the vet techs there?). A world-class team conducted a more extensive surgery, so Berry will never suffer those painful blockages again. He returned to Tabby’s Place…and we could hardly wait!
He had to be on cage rest for a bit, and wasn’t really happy about it, but the doctor insisted. No sooner had he begun to recover, than he developed swelling at his surgical site and had to return to the specialist (who is across the border in Pennsylvania).
Very thankfully, it was routine swelling, and Berry could come back to Tabby’s Place. This time, Berry was the guest of our Director of Operations at her home. She watched over him during his healing process for about a week.
Today, FINALLY, Berry is back at Tabby’s Place, full of energy, racing around the lobby and grabbing pets from everyone he meets. We have our Berry back!
Berry’s lobby mate Peabody couldn’t be happier. The two of them are besties and haven’t missed a beat getting into ALL kinds of mischief. Recently, our staff took them outside during lunch hour so they could frolic in the sunshine and fresh air. A good time was had by all, as you can see below!!
As you can see, Berry has had quite a month, but now he can look forward to sweet, stable days of good health and zany happiness. None of this would be possible without you, dear sponsors. Thanks to you, Tabby’s Place was able to send him to specialists in many disciplines.
You are the moon and the stars for Berry and Tabby’s Place, and we can’t thank you enough!
And, thanks to you, Berry can now resume his starring role in our outreach programs—Aged to Purrfection (which brings him to nursing homes) and Paws to Read (in which young children come read to the cats). He loves being a part of these programs, and he is a real charmer.
Thank you for allowing me to take up your time with so much to tell! As a volunteer, I am privileged to see Berry quite often and to revel in his joy and good health.
I wish you, dear sponsor, joy and good health. I leave you with miles of smiles. Never forget the difference you make.
Your guest correspondent,
Janet
