Update for Berry

Dear Friends,

I’ve been thinking about you a lot since my last update. It’s been another very busy month for me, especially on the medical front.

I had a consultation with a veterinary neurologist regarding a small open spot on my lower spine that occasionally leaks spinal fluid. It just so happens that this veterinary neurologist is a leader in performing the procedure to close the opening. This synchronicity confirms my belief that I’m one of the luckiest little kittens in the whole world!

As I’ve grown, bladder expressions were becoming more uncomfortable for me, and the hope is that this procedure will help minimize this discomfort. I’m happy to say that the procedure went well, but I did experience some challenges.

In my first few days of recovery, I had a partial urinary blockage. For my safety, and to help me heal, I got to go home with my new best friend—vet technician Drew, who is an absolute angel. She took such good care of me. I had a day in which my tummy was upset and I was vomiting, but I bounced back like a little trooper under Drew’s compassionate, expert care.

During my stay with Drew, I had another urinary blockage, but the amazing Tabby’s Place vet team was able to place a urinary catheter and take care of the blockage without the need to go back to a specialist.

I got a lot of love and attention (and food!) in my brief stay in ‘Berry prison’

I spent the day at the Tabby’s Place medical suite before heading back to my temporary home with Drew. My correspondent popped in to see me and took this picture of me in what she calls “Berry prison.”

I told her I was being a very good boy, healing well, and still had lots of playfulness. She couldn’t believe how big I’ve gotten in just a few weeks. I’m still a growing boy.

Drew said I could come back to Tabby’s Place at any time and will soon. But just between us, I think she’s keeping me a little bit longer because she loves me. I overheard her telling my correspondent that she’s going to miss me, though I know she’ll continue to spend time with me when I’m back at Tabby’s Place.

I’ve had a lot of time this month to think about what it means to be lucky: Lucky that someone found me with my mom and sister before it was too late. Lucky that we made our way to Tabby’s Place where we got the love and medical attention we desperately needed. Lucky to find a leading specialist in a rare procedure that will benefit me. But most of all, lucky to have you in my life.

Your love and support are what has made this all possible for me. I am deeply grateful for you and love you with my whole heart. Thank you for everything you do for me.

All my love,
Berry
