Update for Bacon

Dearest Sponsors,

Welcome to a brand new year! It’s a time to start over, and hopefully, we’ll see the world changed for the better!

Bacon has been continuing to throw us a few curveballs with this diet. He still enjoys his Fancy Feast Savory Centers, but at times has refused even to eat his favorite food. This is, of course, a bad thing. Bacon, unfortunately, puts himself in a vicious cycle. He refuses to eat, he has seizures, he becomes “spacey,” and subsequently doesn’t want to eat.

Bacon is due for a blood draw to look at the level of medication. He finds this as one of the worst things we could do to him! Really, we’re looking out for his best interest—if only we could convey that message to him.

Due to Bacon’s occasional refusal to eat his medication, he has been having an increased number of seizures. On one occasion he had four seizures in a single day. This is not good for him or his brain, so we need to assess where he’s at with his medication dosing and begin trying additional types of wet food.

He’s maintaining a wonderful relationship with his roommate, Fenek, at least when the two see each other through their crates. Fenek is far more interested in Bacon, trying to reach out to him. Bacon is clearly not as interested and doesn’t appreciate being bopped on the nose. Aside from those occasional interactions, Bacon and Fenek don’t bother one another. Even when Bacon is a bit out of it, he isn’t aggressive. Who would’ve thought two cats who passionately dislike other cats could get along!

I hope the new year is treating you well and wish you all a happy 2021! Thank you, as always, for your loyal support of Bacon.
