Dearest Sponsors,
Can you believe it’s December? I can’t either! Well, I suppose that means appropriate greetings are in order! So, happy holidays and a happy New Year to everyone!
December always seems like one of those months to reflect back on the past year. This year, however, it seems so many of us have been doing the same thing day after day. And life, in fairness, hasn’t been the kindest. I’m glad that all you reading this are still here and I pay my respects to the many we lost. I think, at least this year, times for reflection on what you may or may not have accomplished should be abandoned. We are all living in the same world of uncertainty, so don’t spend too much time in the past. It’s perfectly okay that you didn’t accomplish all of your past New Year’s resolutions.
Bacon’s progress this year, well, it has been as uncertain as ours. And as repetitive. I keep all my sponsor posts in one document, which leads me to realize I’ve been writing about Bacon’s appetite for nearly a year! There isn’t much excitement in Bacon’s world, only the uncertainty of if he will eat his medication or not. In some ways this has been good, in others I’m sure it’s made for some boring updates!
This update, once again, our wonderful Bacon has remained picky with his food. Fortunately, we’ve been getting donations of Savory Centers from some of his sponsors, so thank you to those of you that have donated them! Bacon switches between Savory Centers and ham baby food. We’re still tracking his appetite. For the most part, he does eat all of his food (and medication).
Bacon’s one highlight actually came from my interaction, so I’ll share the fun (slightly terrifying) story! One medication that Bacon doesn’t receive in his food is transdermal mirtazapine. This is put on his ear. It’s a delicate process, one that requires a great deal of skill avoiding being bit. It usually goes well, as well as it can, aside from the antics that occurred a week ago. On this particular evening, I went to apply the mirtazapine. As I was on the ground slowly opening his crate, Bacon leaps over my shoulder and starts running around the room. He was not his usual napping self. H was prepared to escape as soon as the opportunity presented itself!
Now, this escape posed an issue. Bacon’s roommate, Fenek, was still wandering around the room. A pairing of lava hitting water, I immediately went to grab Fenek. Fenek, if you’ve seen photos, is not the lightest cat, he’s shaped like a beach ball. Just imagine the chaos of trying to hold a wiggling beach ball all the while avoiding Bacon who was acting more like a shark that saw his prey! It was…a lot.
Fenek was finally put in his crate while I was then left with the task of rounding up Bacon. Not the most fun task in the world. Peace, however, was restored!

I hope that gave you a little laugh! After everything had settled, I realized the absurdity and laughed myself! I know this update is getting a bit long now, so I’ll wrap it up here.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and a wonderful new year. Stay safe and stay well. Bacon and I will talk to you in 2021!
