Update for Bacon

Dearest Sponsors,

As the weather starts to shift and we find ourselves pulling out winter coats, there’s one thing that we can rely on: Bacon’s continued battle with food. I feel like I’ve been writing out this forever, but I bring good news!

I do have to say that up until a couple of weeks ago Bacon had taken a stand again, proclaiming “no I won’t eat that.” He decided he gave up cat food and would only eat ham baby food. That’s either a very picky cat or a very smart cat who knows we’ll give him the “good stuff” if he holds out long enough!

We knew, however, there was one food Bacon couldn’t resist. Something that was out of stock for many months. I present to you, in the mind of Bacon, the best cat food: Fancy Feast Savory Centers. Delicious flavors of pate wet food surrounding a gravy center. After many months of waiting, we managed to get two small boxes! Bacon now happily gobbles up his wet food—and medications.

In other news, Bacon’s haircut is slowly growing out. He’s not sporting such an embarrassing coat, instead, he looks ‘fuzzy’. His haircut last month was stressful as Bacon didn’t like being restrained for the procedure. We’ve decided it’s in his best interest that he’s briefly sedated every 6 months to have routine blood work, physical, and a shave down.

While there’s always risks with sedation, Bacon does need regular blood work to confirm he’s on the correct dose of his medications and our veterinary team has the time to give him a proper examination. As Bacon ages, just like any other cat, we need to keep an eye on certain aspects of his health, such as his teeth… and I’m sure you can only imagine how well trying to look at his teeth while awake would go! We’ll also potentially avoid a full shave down, as brushing out mats is far easier when Bacon is peacefully sleeping.

I think that’s about it in the world of Bacon for this month!
