Dear Supporters of Bacon,
Breaking News! Ha. Not really. Well … more on that in a moment.
Bacon is doing just fine on the whole. The staff reported that this gentle boy did have two seizures in the middle of the month, where he woke up chomping at the air. Other than that, he’s been a little sleepy the last few times I’ve visited. I try to see him when I first arrive at Tabby’s Place early in the morning, but he’s usually sleeping, passed out as if he sniffed too much catnip.
So, I decided to visit a little later in the morning.

And … he’s awake!!!
No, he’s not doing jumping jacks or racing around the room like the speed racer cats, but his adorable eyes are open. He turns around and notices me as I come into the room. I hunker down in front of his cozy house, and less than a minute later, he lumbers out. Sniff. Sniff. Sniff.
Yeah, this may seem like a small thing, but the very idea that Bacon comes over and is curious and initiates the interaction … well, this has been a long time in development. I remember the days when I could barely touch him. Now, he wants to be petted.
This is the best part, when he tilts his head back so I can reach under his chin. When he moves his head from side to side, I can pet near his whiskers. I reach out and pet the top of his head, and he looks a bit dreamy now.

What a sweetie!
Cats are mysterious creatures. I often wonder what they’re thinking. At this moment, I imagine that Bacon is wishfully thinking that I’ll hang out near him forever and continue the gentle massage. But I know Bacon. He doesn’t do well with over-stimulation. It’s still hard to leave.

Bacon and I, as always, are eternally grateful for your caring and generosity. We sincerely hope you have opportunities to go outside and enjoy the (hopefully) lovely spring weather. Blue skies and warm breezes!

Kate
