Update for Anka

Dear Friends,

I hope you’re enjoying the early part of spring. While the weather fluctuates, as it always does this time of year in NJ, I’m happy to report that the frequency of my stroller rides has increased. That’s what makes this one of my favorite seasons!

As a dear friend, you know how much I love my humans. One of my best friends at Tabby’s Place is a beautiful soul who visits with me often, shares affection, tells me stories, and makes me laugh. But she has this quirk that I do not appreciate (don’t we all have a friend like that?).

Hmmm, which plate to choose?

This ‘quirk’ is her insistence on keeping my locks lush by brushing all the mats and knots out of my fur. I don’t care how optimistic she sounds or how sweetly she talks to me, I’m not having it. Brushing—while much needed—is where I draw the line.

She sometimes tricks me with treats. In fact, this may be the only way she is successful in getting out a few clumpy knots. But my patience wears thin very quickly. In the video below, you can see and hear my crankiness right after she brushed my tail and tried to keep going.

So now you know what I’m like when I reach my limit. The lovely humans who express my bladder and such have experienced this many times. My grumpiness in no way diminishes my love for these beautiful people. And I very much appreciate all they do for me, even if I don’t always show it.

I’ve been told we have a bunch of Door Runners who live in the lobby and try to rush the doors into Quinn’s Corner when people walk through. Because my home is near the doors to Quinn’s Corner, I have a front-row seat to this spectacle. I often see a bunch of excited little faces peering through the glass just waiting for an unknowing, innocent person to open the doors.

No one really knows what’s so fascinating about Quinn’s Corner for these silly cats, but the look of triumph on their furry faces when they succeed is quite charming. The humans are being instructed to try to socialize them away from the doors for their own safety. My money is on the cats!

My health and spirits (when I’m not being brushed) are good. And I am grateful for you and everything you do for me and all the cats at Tabby’s Place. I’m so lucky to have you in my life.

Big hugs,
Anka
