Update for Anka

Dear Friends,

I am grateful for all your love and support

With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, I’ve decided to make a list of all the things I’m grateful for this year. At the very top of that list is you.

You are the reason I’m at this magical place called Tabby’s Place, getting excellent care and tons of love. Without Tabby’s Place, and amazing supporters like you that keep it going, I’m not sure where I’d be today. Other things I’m grateful for include chicken-flavored treats, stroller rides, the great outdoors, and all my human friends.

My correspondent recently signed up for a couple of cleaning shifts so she can learn the ropes and help fill in shifts when needed. She came to see me after her shifts and described to me the bustling, organized activity that takes place during morning cleanings.

Wish you a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday

It starts with a group meeting to discuss happenings and logistics. One person oversees the dry cat food (knowing how many bowls go in each room and who gets what is no simple task!) and organizes carts with everything that’s needed for each suite.

After the meeting, dozens of volunteers are on the move! They grab their carts with garbage bags, laundry bags, clean towels, and bedding, food and water, fresh kitty litter, kitty litter scoopers, and more, and go forth to their assigned cleaning rooms. After roughly 2½ hours, everything is sparkly clean.

The dish, laundry, and supply rooms are not far from my home quarters, so every morning I see humans pushing full carts around like they’re on a mission. I used to think they were engaging in cart races, like go-carts, down the hallways. Now I know what they’re really doing.

It’s one more thing that makes me so grateful to be here – all these volunteers doing the dirty work of cleaning up after more than 100 cats (hairballs, full litter boxes, messy eating habits, and all!).

On Saturday, November 23 from 12 – 4 p.m. ET, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with the Cats at Tabby’s Place. If you are local and can make it, please stop by to say hello. I would love to see you and tell you how much I love you in person. Details can be found here.

With deep gratitude and appreciation,
Anka
