Me and my new friend, Hips, chilling out together

Dear Friends,

I shocked a lot of people this month by making a new cat friend. His name is Hips. He came to Tabby’s Place recently with a spinal injury and needed to have his tail amputated after he arrived. Now that he’s all healed up, he is free to roam the Lobby. On several occasions, Hips entered my luxury accommodations and hung out with me. We’ve even been spotted playing with the same interactive butterfly toy.

It’s kind of nice having a friend to hang out and play with. But not always. As I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, it has to be on my terms. Hips pushed boundaries a little too far recently, and we had an altercation. Hips was not injured, but his feelings are quite hurt.

All this excitement is making me sleepy

I’ve continued to enjoy frequent stroller walks and time in my outdoor pen. This makes my heart very happy. I love both the sun and the shade and alternate between the two. Volunteers and staff have noticed that when I’m enjoying time in my outdoor pen, I prefer to be left alone. They’ve tried to curl up with me in the sun, but I consistently move away. It’s not personal, and I deeply love these people.

In those moments, I simply want to soak up all the sights, smells and sounds without any distractions. I’m totally open to cuddle time once I’m back inside.

While I may be slowly broadening my horizons with new cat friends, you will always be a dear friend that I love very much. I think of you always and am so grateful for your continued love and support.

XO,
Anka
