Update for Anka

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were lovely. Tabby’s Place was festive, as always. A sweet little person sent me my very own Hanukkah card. I love this card and curled up with it often during the holidays.

The Tabby’s Place staff has come up with a New Year resolution for me:  to lose some of my excess weight. I don’t remember being consulted about this. I pleaded with them to let me receive treats. I also tried to negotiate for occasional treats, to no avail. They even put a sign on the gate of my luxury accommodations to let everyone know I’m on a diet and not to give me treats. The indignity!

It’s for my own good, I know. It’s also for the safety of our staff. The bigger I am, the harder it is to fully empty my bladder and colon, and then I get agitated and bite. Who can believe that an adorable face like mine can bite? Yet it’s true, but only when I’m aggravated about being expressed.

I heard Olive snicker when the kind staff explained the ‘no treat’ policy to me. She, too, is an overweight paraplegic kitty that gets cranky when expressed. And she seems happy that she’s not the only Lobby cat deprived of excess treats.

Our two newest Lobby residents, sweet Marley and ancient Bjork, have been eagerly exploring the Lobby. They are fast learners and quickly figured out they need to keep a good distance from me and Olive. It’s almost funny that two paraplegic cats like us are the self-proclaimed King and Queen of the Lobby.

The weather has turned cold here, so the outdoor strolls were put on hold for a while. Time to curl up and get cozy in my warm, happy home at Tabby’s Place. Thank you for all your support, which makes this possible for me.

All my love,
Anka
