It’s been a bit of a rough month for our tabby girl. She’d been stable for so long, it was easy to forget that Ana actually has the most severe case of IBD that Tabby’s Place has ever seen.
Alas, this month has witnessed evidence of that severity. Early in the month, at Ana’s monthly weigh-in, we were alarmed to find that she’d lost almost 2 pounds. We immediately began treating Ana with an appetite stimulant. In combination with her continued gulping, the weight loss suggests that Ana’s IBD is flaring up in a major way.
We’ve been tinkering with her medication in an effort to help her feel better. Presently, we’ve doubled Ana’s steroid dose and discontinued one of her acid-reducing medications. We’ve also switched her other acid-reducer from liquid to capsule form, as Ana positively detests the liquid.
Ana seems to be her usual friendly self in spite of her issues with IBD. In fact, she often prefers eating to visiting, at least for a while, until she’s had her fill. However, she’s happy to have visitors and displays her world famous purr whenever a visitor enters.
Ana and Natasha seem to be getting along, and there don’t appear to be problems between Ana and Hootz. Meaning, if Hootz leaves Ana be, then things will be fine.
Thank you for all your kindness to Ana. Let’s hope that, by next month’s update, she’ll be feeling even better. Have a wonderful October.
