The August heat finds our little tabby cool and comfortable in Adoption Room #1, and doing well. As she does every month, Ana received a B12 injection in August. This helps maintain her energy and nutrition. A kitty with IBD can have difficulty absorbing all the nutrients in her diet, so this injection helps make up for that.
There have been a couple of medical blips on Ana’s radar screen this month. We’re a bit concerned that she’s been gulping frequently, a sign that her IBD may be bothering her. In addition, Ana’s eyes were a bit red and puffy this month, so we treated her with an amino acid sprinkled in her food (which helps boost the immune system), and eye ointment.
Fortunately, Ana’s eyes are feeling much better now, and her brief health woes haven’t dampered her sweet nature in the least. Ana continues to be very happy in her private suite with Natasha, greeting visitors with her world-famous purr.
You’ll notice that Ana’s eyes seem clear in the photo above. In the picture at left, she is pursuing her favorite activity, next to getting human attention, which is eating. That’s what she seems to like to do if the visiting human is not going to pay any more to attention to her. Eating does make for a great “butt shot.”
On the whole, little Ana is doing well and definitely enjoying life. The Tabby’s Place medical team continues to investigate options to help Ana’s severe IBD. This is a condition that researchers are still learning how best to understand and treat, so we can hope that in the months and years to come, further advances will help to keep Ana, Natasha and kitties like them even healthier and happier. In the meantime, thank you so much for helping us to do the very best by sweet Ana.
