This month we witnessed great news – the Special Needs Suite again became a peaceful land, thanks to Anastasia’s new behavior medication. The difference from last month was truly astonishing. After starting her medication, Ana returned to being the calm and easy-going girl we all remembered, and her days of attacking Hootz and Natasha seemed to be over.
However, our optimism was a bit premature. After a few weeks on the new medication, Ana started terrorizing little Hootz again. Hootz was anxious to the point of losing weight and not eating, so it was decided that it was time for a room swap.
Anastasia and Natasha are now in Adoption Room 1, just a few doors away from Ana’s old home, the employee and volunteer Lounge. Hootz has remained in the Special Needs Suite, where she’s joined by new friends Pirate, Midnight, Sarafina, Paprika and Oreo.
Now that she has just one roomie, Ana’s new theory seems to be “live and let live.” She was as friendly as ever and purred nicely when I gave her some attention.
The new neighborhood must be agreeing with Ana’s health, too, as she’s been steady and stable medically-speaking. Just as with humans, so with cats, stress can aggravate a chronic medical condition like Ana’s IBD, so her new mellow mood and peaceful environment can only be good for Ana’s health.
Thank you for helping us to give our little purr-box just the right accomodations and TLC for her needs, dear sponsors. Have a wonderful month.
