It’s been a month in motion for our Ana. When darling 17-year-old Ringo was adopted last month, that opened up a piece of prime feline “real estate” at Tabby’s Place: a space living in the Lounge. It was unanimously agreed upon by the staff that, given how long she’s been here, how much she adores people, and the fact that she’s already on the same special diet shared by Lounge-dwellers Mittens and Raja, Ana was the lucky one.
Ana really loves the human attention and soft couches in the Lounge. She also tries her best to get any food you’re eating. But since any human food will set off her IBD, she and the humans have to be discouraged from this sort of sharing. I’ve had several nice visits with Ana since her move into the Lounge.
Unfortunately, this past week there were some incidents in the Lounge between Ana, Raja and Mittens. It seems that Raja accidently jumped or fell onto Ana while Ana was in her basket. Ana totally freaked and went after Raja like a wild cat. She was put into the bathroom to cool off, but was still attacking the other two when let out.
Ana is now in a large crate in the room, with the hope that she’ll get readjusted to her new roommates. That may be a vain hope since she went after Raja when let out one morning. She doesn’t seem to be able to get over reacting to past offenses.
If this continues, Ana will have to go back to the Special Needs suite. Both the staff and she will be sad to have this happen, but she was content in the suite. She was fine with the cats there and should be comfortable there again.
In medical news, it’s been a pretty good month for Ana. We adjusted a few of her medications when we saw her gulping a bit (a sign of her IBD acting up), but for the most part her health has been fairly steady.
By this time next month, we should know if Lounge-living is for Ana or not. One way or the other, she will be cherished and have everything she needs here at Tabby’s Place.
Thank you for helping us to do the very best for her!
