Dearest Sponsors,
Let me begin with the reassurance that our little Boobalah is still very much with us.
As I type these words, she is enjoying her dinner among her Lobby buddies (including Bello, pictured with her below). Boo and her friends have been in sunny spirits today, as we’re feeling the first warm glimmers of spring at Tabby’s Place.
Yet I wish I had more hopeful news. We have just received the results of Boobalah’s cytology, which confirmed our fears. Boo is facing carcinoma of the liver, for which there is no treatment but palliative care.
Needless to say, we are all heartsick, unable to imagine our lives and our Lobby without the gentlest tabby girl who ever lived. If it were in our power, Boobalah would live for decades to come, filling countless lives with her comfort and light.
Yet even in the face of this diagnosis, we will not despair. Boobalah deserves our warmth and courage, now more than ever.
She will have sunlight and sweetness for all the days we have left together. Our vet team will do everything to keep her comfortable, including gently draining the fluid from her abdomen. Our devoted Medical Director, Denise, did this earlier this week, and the noninvasive procedure brought Boo great relief.
Most importantly, we will cover her in kisses and wrap her in our arms, hour after hour. There will be blankets fresh from the dryer, and little love songs and lullabies from morning to night.
And you, dear sponsors, will be right here beside Boobalah. Whether you live down the road or on the island of Mauritius (yes, Boo’s angels are found on many continents!), your love will be powerfully present with our little girl.
Over this past week, your incredible messages of tenderness and support have brought us all to tears many times. Since we sent out Boobalah’s first “special update,” you have not ceased to assure us of your prayers and love for your girl. I truly cannot thank you enough for treasuring her as your very own.
And we cannot predict the days to come. It is all too likely that the time is short. Yet we will stretch each day into a century of sweetness, making the most of hours and moments.
Dear ones, thank you for being as close to Boobalah as her own heartbeat. She is blessed beyond the stars to have you as her family.
With gratitude, sorrow, and boundless love,
your guest correspondent, Angela (Tabby’s Place’s Development Director)
