Kitties don’t come much more special than our dear Yasmine. She’s a cute, little, solid grey female with beautiful gold eyes and is as sweet as can be with people.

Poor Yasmine has been through quite a bit in her life. When she first came to Tabby’s Place she could hardly breathe due to a severe upper respiratory infection, and as it turned out, also a rare condition called a nasopharyngeal stenosis. The stenosis made it nearly impossible for her to breathe through her nose and was so debilitating that we had no choice but to go forward with a procedure that had only been performed 8 or so times before. Fortunately, the procedure itself was successful and Yasmine was able to breathe more easily. Sadly though, Yasmine had a rare, but severe reaction to the anesthesia used during the procedure. She pulled through but was left nearly blind and somewhat neurologic.

Yasmine adjusted to her new disabilities and slowly her sight improved, but just over two years after the first procedure she again began having difficulty breathing. We tried to alleviate this issue with inhalers, nebulizations, and even steriods, but nothing seemed to really be doing the trick. After much deliberation we sent Yasmine back to the specialist so the stent could be re-evaluated. We discovered that somehow the stent had been crushed and was blocking Yasmine’s airway. Upon removing the crushed stent the doctor found that her airway had expanded enough, so she would not need another stent put in place.
Yasmine has been doing wonderfully since her latest procedure and our hope is that we can soon wean her of her medications.

Despite everything she’s been through Yasmine remains a happy, affectionate girl. To know this special girl is to love her, so we know that it’s just a matter of time before the right person comes along for her. Are you that person?
