Molly is a beautiful, petite Siamese kitty who doesn’t look her fifteen years. That is, until she stands up, and you notice a slight limp. One of several ailments, Molly has a deformity in the joints of both of her carpi (ankles). This means that she has an outward angulation of the joints on her paws (a fancy way of saying that her feel turn out) which makes her look a little “knock-kneed.”

The result is that Molly has developed some arthritis in her foot joints. She does have some mild pain associated with this, which we treat with a pain medication. Being the spunky old lady that she is, she doesn’t let this prevent her from leaping and jumping wherever she wants to go, or purring up a storm for that matter.

Molly lives in our Community Room, where she spends her days snoozing in comfy baskets and telling us what’s on her mind in her distinctive Siamese MEOOWW. At morning staff meetings, Molly ambles across the table, testing one lap after another until, like Goldilocks, she finds one that’s “just right.”

We do our best to keep Molly’s health “just right,” despite her ailments. In addition to her arthritis, Molly is also in the early stages of kidney failure. Like fellow Community Room resident Hillary, Molly receives subcutaneous fluids every other day and, of course, we monitor the kidneys’ function with periodic blood work. The Community Room is a perfect place for Molly, as staff and volunteers can keep a close eye her – a good thing since cats with CRF are a little more vulnerable to urinary tract infections, dehydration, and anemia.

Molly is a very beautiful, affectionate, sweet girl who needs a lot of medical, and personal, attention. Please help us keep our beautiful Molly the content and happy feline that she naturally is.
