Mimi

Precious Mimi is one of the most beloved cats at Tabby’s Place. For such a young cat she’s been through a lot in her life. Mimi was born at Fort Dix prison. One of the inmates there noticed right away that Mimi wasn’t normal. She had a funny gait and a hard time keeping herself clean. The prison is a difficult place for any cat to survive; for Mimi life was especially hard. With the loving care of the inmates Mimi was able to survive for almost 9 months outdoors. As winter approached and Mimi’s primary caretaker was due to be transferred to another prison, it was clear that Mimi needed to find a new home. Through the help of a prison guard and a caring friend in Michigan, Mimi’s caretaker was able to arrange for Mimi to come to Tabby’s Place.

Upon her arrival at Tabby,s Place we found that Mimi was very ill. She had a mass in her chest that was making it difficult for her to breathe. We were afraid that after everything Mimi had been through we might lose her. Fortunately, Mimi pulled through. We determined that the mass in her chest is benign. Unless it causes any more issues for Mimi, the doctors have recommended that the mass be left alone (Surgery to remove it would be very invasive.) and monitored regularly for any changes.

Now that Mimi is fully recovered she,s been getting around much better and is able to groom herself without a problem. Admittedly, her gait is still a little odd – she,s a bit bowlegged, but that just adds to her cuteness. Mimi loves people and other cats. She often sneaks into our office room to play with the kittens. She can also be seen “stalking” people in the Lobby to get some extra attention. If you,re looking for a special cat that has lots of love to give, please consider sweet Mimi.
