It’s difficult for us to judge Fern’s size. She’s small-to-medium, but she seems positively tiny compared to some of the big boys in her suite! Fern is one of our FIV+ crew, a cute tabby-and-white girl about 7 years of age (as of 1/10) , we estimate.

When Fern first came to us, she was very frightened and spent all of her time hiding. In just a couple of months, however, she’s made good progress. She’s still timid, but she actively enjoys some attention now, although she’s still uncomfortable if petted near her tail. When she gets very happy, she’ll “knead” with her front paws, or even flop over on one side.

Because Fern is still not entirely comfortable with humans, she should go to a home without small children. But given her strides forward, we’re hopeful that she’ll become even more sociable with time.
