Dia

Dia

Dia came to us in a rather unique manner.A few months ago we received a call from a nursing home that had pets on site for their residents’ enjoyment (a great idea, by the way). One of their cats was diabetic and had been receiving her twice daily insulin injections from two nurses.Unfotunately, the two nurses no longer worked at the home and Dia was not getting her insulin on a regular basis. While everyone at the home loved her dearly, they feared for her health.

As we were discussing the case with them, one of our employees had a brilliant idea: since the home had pets, why not see if they would trade Dia for one of our nice, but hard-to-adopt, cats. The home was more than happy to do this, as long as the cat was already declawed (for the safety of their residents).

Patches was the perfect cat for them. She was a sweetie, but at 10 years old, was typically overlooked by adopters. So we made the trade.

We are thrilled to have Dia.She is a very sweet, affectionate cat. And, as you can clearly see, she is aboslutely beautiful. We had to shave her coat when she arrived as her fur was horribly matted. She had stopped grooming herself as she did not feel well due to her high blood sugar.Dia1.jpgNow that Dia’s blood sugar level is regulated properly, she is doing wonderfully & feels very well.We put her in the Special Needs Suite with Ozzie, our other diabetic cat, as they can share the diabetes management diet.

Dia is so beautiful and sweet that we hope that someone may adopt her, despite her special need. But, we are well aware that her chanes of adoption are diminished greatly due to her diabetes. Please consider sponsoring Dia and helping us to care properly for this sweetheart.Dia2.jpg
