Crystal

Crystal – what a pretty name – and what a pretty kitty.

This little girl is warm, open and loving and very generous with her purrs. After living many years in an overcrowded shelter, this sweet girl finally made it to the top of our waiting list in spring of 2008.We invited Crystal into Suite A, where most of the cats have various digestive sensitivities and disorders – and her sweet disposition has already blended beautifully with her new suite-mates.

Crystal has inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which often responds well to a hypo-allergenic diet; this works well with her new pals who all share this same special diet.In addition, Crystal is given two medications – an anti-inflammatory drug commonly used in cats, and an anti-diarrheal to manage her symptoms and keep her as comfortable as possible. This delightful little girl finds her way to visitors and cuddling volunteers easily, despite also having impaired vision.Crystal has symblepharon, a form of scarring in which the conjunctiva (the clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye) adheres to the cornea. We’re not certain of the origin of this condition, but it is probable that she had an infection when she was a kitten. This condition is permanent and is unlikely to change. While there’s nothing that can be done to treat symblepharon in Crystal, we do need to be aware of it – and keep the stress level resulting from limited vision to a minimum. Crystal2.jpg

Your kind sponsorship will help us to provide Crystal with the special diet, medications, and high level of care she needs and deserves. And when you’re at Tabby’s Place, please make time to visit this soft and cuddly little being – our staff and volunteers find any reason to be with her! Don’t be surprised if she finds a way to climb on you to visit as you bend down to pet any of the kitties in Suite A – she might be on your back for now – but we know she’ll be in your heart forever!
