Boo Boo

Boo Boo

The majority of the cats at Tabby’s Place come to us from other shelters, where they were scheduled for euthanasia. But, about 10% of the cats come from the public and we do a very thorough screening process to be ceratin that they have tried everything and are not uust looking for an excuse to “dump” their cat.

Boo Boo’s owners said that he was urinating outside of his box. This is, of course, a common complaint so we are especially suspisious when this is given as a reason. But, after investgiation (including speaking with their vet), it became clear that thse people had done everything possible and were at the end of their rope.

So we placed Boo Boo on the waiting list. A few months later a spot opened up for Boo Boo and he joined the Tabby’s Place family. We’re not quite sure how it happened, but apparently when Boo Boo was a kitten, a door was slammed hard on his midsection. The trauma caused some damage to Boo Boo’s spine. The result of this is that Boo Boo’s mobility is somewhat limited. He walks in a strange manner (you have to see it to understand) and he cannot jump at all.

We were thinking that this injury might have also explained his elimination difficulties. But, much to our delight, Boo Boo handles a litter box just fine.Even better, he has had no “accidents” since coming to Tabby’s Place.BooBoo1.jpgBoo Boo is an absolutely adorable cat.He is incredibly friendly and is the first cat at the door when someone enters the suite. The staff and volunteers love him and have given him the nickname “Bumping Boo Boo”.You see, because of his injury, Boo Boo cannot rub against your legs like other cats.Instead, he positions himself next to you and swings his hips from side to side, bumping repeatedly agaisnt your leg.It is so endearing, you want to pick him up and squeeze him (which he doesn’t mind).BooBoo2.jpgBecause the injury happned long ago (Boo Boo is now seven years old), we do not expect that his condition will worsen with time. And, Boo Boo is so cute that we hope we will be adopted into a loving home at some point.

Meanwhile, he will continue to live with us, making us laugh often. Please consider sponsoring Boo Boo and helping us to care for him.
