Betsy

Betsy is a lovely dilute calico, definitely on the smaller side. One or two people have asked if she’s fully grown, but she certainly is; our best guess is that she was born in 2010. Our vet tech describes her as “a complete mush” and “very cuddly”. Betsy adores other cats, especially our Barley, who’s in the same suite with her. She’s especially easy-going, and we think she’d be fine around small children and almost anyone else.

This beautiful girl has stomatitis. In this case, that necessitated a procedure to remove inflamed tissue under her tongue and in her lower jaw; all of her teeth have also been removed. That sounds terrible, I know, but she’s healed up well and is doing much better since the surgery; there’s minimal to no inflammation left in her mouth at this point. She’s still eating dry kibble, but she gets canned food twice per day, and she should continue to get canned food twice per day when she’s adopted. Perhaps because of her stomatitis, her tongue sticks out a good deal of the time (on the other hand, that might be unrelated; Tabby’s Place sees a lot of cats with stomatitis and not all of them stick out their tongues).

For the present, we’re including Betsy among our Special Needs crew. She does not require any extra care now, but if she has a flare-up of her stomatitis, she might require extra care and/or medication until that settles down. We know Betsy isn’t for everyone, but this gentle girl has a lot of love to give the right person or family.
