Hyperthyroidism

“The heart is a lonely hunter.” – Carson McCullough

As pet lovers, each of us knows the loss of a beloved friend can be devastating. For Nigel, the loss of his owner and caregiver has been a deep and ever-present heartbreak. Unlike you or me, Nigel has not processed the passing of his best friend across the Rainbow Bridge and, despite our valiant attempts to comfort him, this beautiful boy feels out of place with so much activity going on around him. The hustle and bustle of Tabby’s Place is simply not for him!

In Latin, the name Nigel means “champion” or “hero”. This brave boy is struggling to understand why, after nine years with his best friend, he is now on his own. Indeed, Nigel is quite scared and most usually is found hiding somewhere in his room. Startle him with a quick approach and he will bolt, but we know there is a sweet and tender fellow inside big, beautiful ginger. Move slowly, take your time and Nigel will gratefully accept a few gentle pets.

Nigel would do well in a calm, quiet household with other easygoing kitties to keep him company. Medication provided once daily easily manages Nigel’s hyperthyroidism, and he is otherwise in terrific health.
