Shizu has already overcome more than most cats ever should have to. This cutie-faced black beauty, once called an outdoor colony home. When she tested positive for FeLV, returning to that life was no longer an option. Thanks to Tabby’s Place, Shizu was given a second chance—and now she’s hoping for the one thing she’s never truly had: a family of her own.
Shizu is a Japanese name associated with quiet and tranquil. Our Shizu embodies calm and may watch you from a safe distance, quietly deciding whether you’re worthy of her trust. She’s a thoughtful soul, not one to rush into new friendships. But if you give her the gift of patience, she’ll reward you with the gentle affection hidden beneath her shy exterior. The secret to her heart? A calm voice, a kind hand, and perhaps a few tasty treats. Shizu is wonderfully food motivated and firmly believes that snacks are an important part of any meaningful relationship.
Because of her FeLV status, Shizu would do best as an only cat or with other FeLV+ feline friends. She also has sensitive skin and needs a hypoallergenic diet to keep her feeling her best. These are small accommodations for a cat whose greatest wish is simply to feel safe, loved, and cherished.
Shizu isn’t looking for a perfect home. She’s looking for a compassionate person willing to move at her pace and discover the sweet, loving companion waiting behind her cautious exterior. Could that be you? Fill out an adoption questionnaire today!
