Mandarin may have a bit of a tough peel, but there’s something wonderfully sweet waiting underneath!

This former colony cat isn’t the type to hand out affection like free samples. If you rush the introduction, you’ll probably be greeted with a hiss that says, “Maybe let’s get to know each other first.” But if you’re willing to let trust grow naturally, you’ll discover a curious, playful cat who’s already shown a lucky few that he enjoys gentle pets on his terms.

Mandarin loves lounging out in the open, often curled up on a cozy blanket while quietly supervising the room. And when the toys come out, his playful side steals the show. Toss him a ball, and he’ll fix you with wide, hopeful eyes, eagerly waiting for the next throw.

This kitty absolutely adores other cats and would thrive in a home with confident feline friends to help him feel safe and secure. He’s also looking for a patient adopter who understands that the best relationships take time and is willing to continue the socialization journey he’s already showing wonderful progress on.

Mandarin spent months on medical hold while our veterinary team tackled his chronic ear issues. After his final recheck, he’s officially ready to start the next chapter of his life! His ears will likely always require a little extra attention, but otherwise, he’s happy and healthy.

Some fruits are picked because they’re easy. Mandarin is the one you choose because he’s worth the effort. Give him the time he deserves, and you just might find the sweetest companion waiting beneath the peel. Ready to take this handsome boy home? Fill out an adoption questionnaire today!
