Sunflower is as beautiful and dainty as her name.

This little golden girl started out her life as a community cat. Her colony had a caretaker who made sure she had food, water, and shelter, but Sunflower still had limited contact with people during her formative years. Due to her outdoor upbringing, she is very shy around other people. She often seeks out a cubby where she can tuck herself away and have a peaceful nap. She doesn’t seek out human attention, but we are working on making her feel more comfortable about her new indoor life.

Sunflower came to us when her caretaker noticed that she had developed a large lesion on her nose. After a quick trip to the vet and a biopsy, it was revealed that this spot was something sinister: cancer. Due to her health condition, Sunflower cannot return to her outdoor home, but she will be safe and cared for here in our sanctuary and hopefully – someday – will be able to find the right home.

Considering her previous life as a community cat, it is unsurprising that Sunflower does well with other cats. She would do well in a home with a cat-friendly cat on the more confident side who can show Sunflower that humans aren’t so bad after all.

Sunflower needs a special adopter who is willing to be very patient with her. Could you be the one for Sunflower? Fill out an online adoption application today!
