As his name might suggest, Alfred is a handsome and refined man. You can almost imagine him dressed as a butler – stood at attention wearing a sharply tailored tuxedo, silver platter in hand. Alfred’s upbringing, however, is much more pauper than palace.
For most of his life, Alfred was locked away in a dirty basement. He was eventually rescued by animal control, but the years of neglect left their mark. He has not always been a fan of our attempts to befriend him, but rather prefers the company of other cats. He can often be found lounging in the solarium with his feline friends.
Alfred’s skepticism of humans doesn’t mean he can’t be won over. He may pretend to be aloof to our advances, but if you offer him some treats, he will certainly stick around. Through our Befriending Fearful Felines (BFF) program, volunteers have brought out his sweet side – and his “sweet tooth.” Alfred is always willing to hang out if you offer him some goodies.
Alfred needs an understanding and patient adopter who will give him the space he needs to adjust to life in a home. With time, Alfred can be a loving cat, but he needs a family that is willing to work with him. Alfred would also love the opportunity to be adopted into a home with other cats.
