Hips’ Happenings, # 37

Happy January, Dear Sponsors and Tabby’s Place Fans!

Welcome to 2026 and a new year of news and events from the sanctuary and from me.

First, let me tell you that I had a rough time at the beginning of December.  I was coughing, sneezing, and throwing up my food.  I still think I have some kind of allergies because the symptoms disappeared on their own, and I am just fine now.

And then we had Boxing Day here at the sanctuary.  I know this is a holiday in some countries, but we changed it a bit.  We kitties had our very own boxing day, and did we make the most of it!  We had boxes from Chewy and boxes from everywhere.  It was a fun time in the lobby and all over the sanctuary.  And you know we will use our boxes every day and wear them out… LOL!

But I was a bad boy for a while.  There is a new solarium attached to our Executive Director Jonathan’s office.  The staff has been letting some of us into the solarium to see how we would get along with a kitty named Marcia, who lives in the Director’s office.  Well, I didn’t do so well with Marcia and kept on tormenting her.  Sometimes kitties don’t get along with each other, and I just didn’t like Marcia.  So now I have been banned from the solarium.

But it’s okay because I have my boxes and a newer kitty named Willow to show the ropes.  We play a lot, and at night she is zipped into her crate for sleeping.  But sometimes the staff forgets to zip the crate all the way, and I have taught her how to escape and find treats during the night.  Aren’t I just a stitch… oh, maybe I got my mischievous side from Stitch, the alien—I think he is part cat.

And guess what?  I am a movie star!  I always said I should be in movies or in Hollywood.  And NBC PhillyLive did a segment on Tabby’s Place.  If you click on this link, you can watch it.  Be sure to watch until the end because I am in this video, but near the end.  (I will be signing paw graphs in the lobby at a future date!)

And I have saved the best for last:  guess who is back?  Yep, you guessed it, the love of my life, dear Prescott, is back with me in the lobby.  I knew they couldn’t keep the lovebirds apart.  Actually, she and a kitty to remain unnamed were not getting along in the Community Room, so Prescott is back!  I am just so happy to start the new year with good health, many boxes, and my true love.

My new friend, Willow. She is paraplegic but full of energy, like me!

I wish for all of you a happy and healthy new year.  Come to visit us whenever you can, in between all the cold and snow.  And we will all be safe, well, and warm because we are here at the sanctuary.

Hugs and kitty kisses,
Hips

PS: I hope you can come to Tabby’s Place for Your Feline Valentine on Saturday, February 7th. This open house runs from 12-4pm, but the first hour (12-1) is just for sponsors like you. You can look forward to festive refreshments and cozy visiting time with the cats! We’ll send a reminder about the event later this month, and we hope you can join us.
