Dear Team Regina,
Exciting news! Regina is jumping for joy!
Through the graciousness of Tabby’s Place’s wonderful family of supporters, this year’s Linda Fund Matching Challenge raised more than $400,000 to support cats who need emergency and specialty care. We can’t thank you enough for your extraordinary generosity!
Tears well up in Regina’s eyes each time she thinks about this — and you. She feels confident that we are prepared to care for the health and well-being of our feline friends with even the most challenging medical needs.
Our staff, donors, and volunteers come through for us in a big, big way, and Regina couldn’t be more thankful. And, she is especially thankful for your loyalty each month to ensure she is happy and cared for.
On a different note, I am so sorry to report that Regina’s hopes for a Penn State Nittany Lion national football championship have been smashed—first by an overtime loss to Oregon and then by a completely unexpected rout at UCLA. Setting my personal angst aside, I have spent hours consoling our littlest Lion.

Regina does not accept the agony of defeat graciously. You see, other than “food,” “winning” is the favorite word in her vocabulary.
Regina is an intensely competitive girl, always at the top of her game in all of her pursuits. So, for the moment, I am encouraging her to put her pom poms down and refocus her energies on her own athletic training. After all, the next Paralympic Games are just around the corner, and fashion show catwalks beckon worldwide. Regina absolutely must prepare and be in shape to perform her very best.
Our golden girl already has an excellent start. She has been in superbly good health this month, unbothered by the urinary tract infections that often afflict cats with paralysis. Regina has also taken Kitty Purry under her wing and seems to enjoy her company. The two frequently play together, and Regina seems to have enlisted Kitty Purry’s assistance with her training regimen.
She may not be a professional coach, but Kitty Purry lacks nothing in the realm of enthusiasm and genuine support. She is her friend Regina’s biggest fan. They even rest and hang out on a curvy scratcher together when their workouts are complete. It is clear Regina adores Kitty, and Kitty looks up to Regina as the aspiring athlete, fashion-forward lady, and royal Queen that she is.

What a wonderful thing it is to see this pair’s friendship blossom! You see, at the end of the day, cats really do not need to form friendships with other felines. In fact, friendships aren’t crucial to their health and happiness. So why do so many cats at Tabby’s Place seem, indeed, to form friendships and establish strong bonds like Regina and Kitty Purry?
The answer is that we offer plenty of safe spaces, as well as scratching posts, toys, and puzzle feeders for individual stimulation. Food and litter, provided in separate areas and quiet spots, also contribute to our charges’ sense of security. With plenty of resources provided for each and every cat, we can minimize “resource guarding” and bring conflict to a minimum.

Your donations help us see to that. And, of course, our staff and volunteers are always on the lookout for challenging personality differences and potentially discordant situations. When each cat has exactly what he or she needs for their safety and comfort, it makes for a very peaceful kingdom!
Of course, it really doesn’t hurt that Kitty Purry is quietly content to serve as Regina’s only lady-in-waiting—a true necessity for our royal Regina. In turn, Regina is more than willing to dote upon her little ingenue and teach her everything she needs to know about true star power. Besides, a very savvy Kitty Purry knows, from her USC film school days, it’s always wise to have a talented partner who is willing to “run lines” with you. It’s the perfect symbiotic relationship! And why not bask in the reflected glory of a diva such as Regina until your own star turn comes along?
These girls have big things in their sights. Be sure to listen for your name as they extend their thanks at upcoming awards ceremonies in every field of endeavor. With your help, they’re always winners!
Your correspondent,
Tina
