Davey’s come a long way — and he’s ready for someone to finish the journey with him.

When Davey arrived at Tabby’s Place, he came from a home where he’d had little interaction with people, and he was cautious about touch and closeness. That hasn’t fully changed — Davey still gets nervous when someone new approaches. But one of our staff members took the time to earn his trust, patiently and persistently, and what she found underneath his caution was a cat who genuinely loves attention. Davey now happily accepts pets and treats, and has developed one particular passion: hanging out in the sink. (We don’t make the rules, we just report them.)

Davey has always been a cat’s cat — he’s completely at ease with feline company, and you’ll often find him napping or lounging with his cat friends. That sociability with other cats hasn’t wavered a bit. What’s changed is what’s possible with people, given time. Davey would do best in a quiet home with other cats for company, and with a person who understands that his trust has to be earned — slowly, gently, and without rushing him. The reward for that patience is a cat who lets his guard down and shows real affection.
