Dearest Friend of Tux,

In this season of Thanksgiving, Tux wants you to know how very thankful he is for your unwavering support and unconditional love. To show his appreciation, he boxed himself up in a “to go” box as he promises his love in return.
Tux has been in notably good spirits of late and has fully embodied the giving spirit of the season. He’s been expanding his horizons, seeking out new napping spots, and welcoming the companionship of new and old roommates without judgment.
Eartha moved into the Community Room last November. She has a seizure disorder that we manage with daily medication and close observation. Eartha is one of our few residents who is not available for adoption, as her condition does require careful medical management. Eartha loves to play with cat toys and with stationary objects. She also gets very unsettled by both stationary and moving objects at seemingly random times throughout the day. For this reason, she does not typically enjoy human touch or seek out interaction. She does not like to be approached by other cats but does not exactly avoid them. She is a quirky little cat and we love her dearly. Tux learned long ago to give her a wide berth.

Eartha has long been a ground dweller, as her gait is a little off balance at times. Since Tux spends most of his time in cozy beds, cubbies, or window sills, the two do not often interact. Recently, Eartha has been seeking out more elevated perches. In her recent wanderings, she discovered Tux resting in his newest cozy spot. It’s unclear if she knew he was indeed another feline, a pillow, or an inanimate object, but she opted for pillow and settled right in.
Tux, always the gentleman, stayed still and let her settle.
Speaking of gentle behavior, Tux was rather embarrassed to be recruited as a bowtie model for a special photo shoot on-site at Tabby’s Place. He requested anonymity from the world at large but agreed to share his very personal photo with you. He asks that no matter how much the media begs, he wishes to avoid all paparazzi and black-tie affairs. He must maintain both his dignity and his pride.

If you happen to be in the area of Ringoes, NJ on Saturday, November 23, you may wish to visit us for our annual “Thanksgiving with the Cats” event. We will be open for self-guided tours, snacks, refreshments, and a feast of love. One of our wonderful volunteers has even cooked a special turkey breast just for the cats. Tux generally prefers quiet, more intimate one-on-one visits, but he encourages you to come and indulge his friends in the festivities and foods.
Tux and I wish you a beautiful season, knowing we are both so very grateful for you!
Your correspondent,
Lisa
